Splitting Axe II
Gerber axes, like all of our products, are built with an eye to hurdling trouble. The Splitting Axe II, like the original Gerber Splitting Axe, has an extra-long Fibercomp™ handle and weighted, stainless steel head for power when splitting logs and chopping roots. Built to withstand the abuse that regularly breaks wooden-handled splitting mauls and axes, this was made with loggers, arborists, landscapers and homeowners with wood-burning stoves in mind. CONFIDENCE IN EACH SWING The taper of the Splitting Axe II is flared similar to a splitting wedge (a tool used to break a log by being driven into the wood with a hammer). Eliminating the need for a wedge saves the owner an extra step, providing for greater efficiency when splitting logs, which spells out savings in time, effort, and strain on the body. It has the capacity to split medium and large-sized logs with a single strike, and its shock absorbing handle helps in prevention of overstrike injury. PERFECT BALANCE FOR EFFICIENCY Coated with a low-friction surface, the blade of this axe slices through wood without sticking, while its well-engineered head splits wood cleanly. In addition, the blade retains an extra-sharp edge with its hardened forged steel construction. Balanced perfectly for exertion-to-weight ratio, the Splitting Axe II swings with a solid, easy feel. In tandem with the well-engineered head of the axe, this creates such efficiency that the work can be done far faster than expected.
